Kern River

Last week I took the annual trip (12 years!!) to the Kern River with my family, Jerry, and a lot of family friends. Since the water was so high this year everyone was able to go innertubeing, rafting, kayaking, and just floating down on your back.


A definite highlight of the trip was the natural slide rocks. Our friends usually go up every year but this was the first time my family decided to take the hour trip. The location of the slides was pretty amazing, the entire drive up I was looking out the window at hundreds and hundreds of acres of burned trees due to a recent fire, but as soon as we arrived at the slides I noticed healthy giant redwoods surrounded the area like silent sentinels protecting the natural rock formations.

Another highlight of this years trip was very unexpected, Dungeons
& Dragons (DnD). I can truthfully say I never expected to play DnD I always thought it to be a lame game for nerds and geeks, oh how wrong I was... I believe it was our first night at the River, Jeremy, Ian, Ian's friend Max and I were sitting around the campfire conversing about everything from presidential conspiracies to the 11th dimension and somehow we got to talking about our favorite games. Before I knew it we were actually playing DnD and we were all having a blast to my surprise!! We played almost everyday for an hour or two and all walked away with some great memories and an unfinished adventure. Some quotes I will never forget include "Space elves are gaaaaay" "Roll for my virginity!!" "Lesbian seagull" and so many more, through DnD I learned that lifes all about trying new experiences and breaking stereotypes.

But the most memorable experience in my opinion was meeting all the amazing people at the Kern. Every year I go up I make it my number one objective to try to meet all the kids my age at the campground, usually I'll meet one or two cool people but this year shattered previous years. The first kid I met was Max, Max was Ian's close friend from school.(Ian's family and my family have been coming up together every year for the past 12 years) At first glance I thought Max was a trip with his long black hair and crazy t-shirts but after talking to him i quickly learned how smart and funny he was. I could listen to him talk for hours about his ideas on politics, religion, science, and many other topics. I noticed some family a couple sites over and a lot of kids were with them. I was very quick to make friends with all of them and had a great time playing all sorts of games with them almost every day and night, cya next year guys! The coolest kids up there tho were definitely "the mohawk family". Which consisted of about 7 kids on bikes riding around the campground on bikes all rocking sick mohawks and the two girls that were with them. Each kid had a hilarious personality and kept me in stitches the couple of days I was with them. I also had the pleasure of meeting Marissa and Andrea, the sickest girls I've ever met while on vacation. I had the chance to chill with them their last night and it was astounding probably one of my best nights at the Kern River. They are also the only people I've wanted to keep in touch with, and I have been staying in real good touch ;) <3

Turnbull

Tonight all four GBNU members got together and busted a mission to one of our favorite spots: Turnbull Canyon.

Although in past adventures we have encountered some creepy, stalking weirdos every time we come up we were blessed tonight with a stroke of good fortune. These two guys reppin' their crew, TSOW, provided us with a very warm welcome that was much appreciated. They offered us drinks, and some protection if we ran into any trouble...all we had to do was give a hootie hoo lol. Thanks a lot guys.





Jerry definitely took advantage of their generosity...as a side note he added one more beer to this handful and a shot of Jose that the TSOW guys offered us on our way back to the car.





After chatting it up with those guys for a bit longer we continued on our trail. As we were walking along, we heard something in the bushes on our left..something big, and smart because it was moving quietly alongside us. We were all thinking mountain lion; and scared would be a definite understatement of the dominant emotion we were feeling. This picture here was one of the many sad attempts made at catching a glimpse of the beast that was stalking us the entire night.




Even though our time there tonight was spent solely on trying to figure out what the animal was, it was still pretty good times...as usual.

UCSD Orientation

At about 1:30 p.m., Andre, Jason, and I took our first steps as college students at UCSD for orientation. Unfortunately, they weren't in the same college as me. I happen to be in ERC (Eleanor Roosevelt College) while they reside in Marshall, although they are in close proximity so it's all good.

As we arrived to La Jolla, we decided to check out this local hole-in-the-wall mexican restaurant called Rigoberto's. One word to describe it: ORGASMIC. I recommend the California Burrito, sometimes I think God is Mexican because of this burrito, its too divine.
Since I did early lodging at ERC, I was there a day earlier than the usual crowd. I stayed in the residence hall called Europe with some pretty amazing people. My favorite part of the ERC campus would have to be the long stretch of green thats at the center. All of our meals were held at the Cafe Ventanas, a huge dining hall with an amazing architectural structure and a view of the ERC Green.














We had great Orientation Leaders, in which I was under the care of my OL Edwin who led Group 6. Throughout orientation, I met some pretty chill people who I soon became friends with and there were a hand full of tripped out individuals as well. Throughout the tour we were amazed by some of the great facilities and structures they had such as the Giesel Library or the building that had overlapping neon words, in which the one that you notice first describes your college career for the next 4 years. Somehow, I spotted out "LUST" as my word.













Overall, I had a great time at the ERC UCSD Orientation, met some amazing people and finally got to see the campus I'll be at for the next 4 years.

Try New Things

Zoey and I were at the mall when I decided, I want to try new things because I want to experience everything there is in the world. Thus, I decided to get my ears pierced. A good friend of ours was working at a piercing place at the Brea Mall so we decided to stroll over there to get me set up. The good friend of ours was none other than Kelsie Vdub.

The whole piercing process was pretty quick due to Vdub's exceptional skills, with no pain at all, the earrings were in. I'm pretty content with how they look and hope to experience more new things in the future.

Resurrection

Sup guys, Sean here. After about a week of calling my ISP, i've finally been able to get my internet working again. From the 26th-28th i'm going to be in San Diego for my orientation so be sure to check back again to take a look at my experience there. Till then, peace.

So I apologize for the delay on the post because they left Sunday, early morning. They took off for the Kern River, a spot Budd and his family hit up every year..this year he was allowed to bring friends but me and Seany couldn't make it. So Jerry went with.


As far as a last hurrah before they left, Jerry went out with a bang, literally (minds out of the gutter please). A certain person's door was violated at around 230am, or somewhere around there. Jerry had a late reaction to the flash on my camera though. The flash is ridiculously bright, and it took him about 3 seconds after I took the pic to realize that he needed to get it done with before they came to the door.




Take notice of Jerry's ensemble here, apparently taking off his pants and shoes helped him run faster in some odd way. Well anyways, I can't wait until these guys get back. Even though it's only a week its just not the same without them. Oh and rumor on the street is that Jerry got a tatt up in the Kern...so be sure to stay posted for news on that when they return. Hurry home guys!

So yesterday, I skipped out on Jodi's graduation party (sorry Jodes) and went to Los Angeles to celebrate my cousin graduating high school.
There were definitely some perks to attending. My uncle, the grill sergeant, cooked these babies up real nice.



After the main course these people arrived and got everyone really excited, they were hookin it up with (excuse the spelling errors) chicharones, helote, and these snow cone type things that I forgot the name of. Pretty bomb.







I really enjoyed seeing familiar faces that I had not seen in a very long time. This guy was not one of the familiar faces. For some of the people I saw here it had been so long that I failed to remember them at all. I even managed to embarrass myself with this really cute girl who remembered me and I had no idea who she was and so when she asked I said "kinda.well nah I don't remember you actually". Idiot! Oh well.





Congratulations Alex! Well done..going through high school with ridiculously difficult classes while being an athlete and being involved with countless school clubs/activities is an amazing feat that you should be proud of. Best of luck to you cousin.

Farewell to a legend

Our dear friend Matt Estrada is leaving for the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Matt is probably the smartest and funniest guy we've have ever met, we really mean that too. We've been friends with Matt since the 6th grade and have been getting closer to him every year since. We'll never forget the days in 7th grade P.E., the D.C. trip, web design, korean BBQ, the cone nights and so many more good memories. A brief acquaintance with this legend will leave a lasting impression on any ones life, but we were fortunate enough to have him as a good friend. He's such a genuinely nice person it's ridiculous, he keeps our mannerisms in check whenever we're out somewhere. Matt, we wish you the best of luck and we know you're going to succeed in whatever you plan to do.

Trip to the pool

This morning we decided to trek to neighborhood pool down the street. Unfortunately my dad was using the truck to buy supplies for our camping trip tomorrow. I brought my trusty laptop along hoping to find wi-fi. Zoey brought the Nikon of course and Jerry brought the beer!!...of course.
It was already very hot and the heat made the walk a lot longer.



The pool is really nice, it was just built for the new community on Alondra and La Mirada blvd. Too bad its infested with dick asians and we don't have a key....but that's why we bring Jerry ;) The waters usually the perfect temperature and the jaccuzi's to die for. Bomb biotches usually frequent the spot, topless ;) PARADISE

2:00 am and we're live....

It's 2am and Sean, Zoey, and I are sitting in front of my new laptop outside of Panera Bread in 80 degree weather trying to set up this damn blog, its been a very long day for all of us but we'll try to give some explanation for ourselves. After long deliberation on the blogs name we came up with The Good, The Bad, and The Not So Ugly Boys. Zoey pitched the idea to us while eating dinner at Red Robin of taking the name of the amazing movie The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. After listening to me raving about its greatness for about a month Zoey and Sean finally got to sit down with me to watch it. I really like the word "boys" and don't really see it too much in today's culture so I wanted to throw it on. Well thats enough for now I've been awake for way too long and need to sleep.

So I'm really excited that this thing is about to become a reality because we have been talking about it for so long. I wish it could have gone up even earlier, and I have been pretty impatient about the whole process along with a little cranky because I'm very tired, but don't worry this blog is not going to be filled with all complaints chris lee style (jk man i love you). But anyways we just wanted to start this up so we could share all of the random missions we bust, awesome people we meet, and the awkward events that take place in our lives. So now I think I'll hand it off to seany so he can finish it off and we can get home.
